Like ordinary tree based books, audiobooks can serve a higher purpose than just entertaining the listener.
It's about time I quit the evil weed, so I have started listening to Allen Carr's "The Easy Way To Stop Smoking".
The concept behind the original book was that the reader should continue to smoke while reading the incredibly repetitive messages in the book about why they are a total turd for being a smoker.
As a malcoordinated muppet with a vision impairment, there was only one way reading a book while smoking was going to end for me.
The smell of burning hair.
So, the audiobook allows lazy people like me to listen to a man who sounds remarkably like Martin Jarvis and passively take on board endless repeated messages about what a turd I am for smoking, while smoking, without catching fire.
But does it actually work?
